if the Holy Spirit says turn left…turn left…
November 12, 2007
this morning while running some errands I was praying and thinking about what it looks like to live a life that is continually, consistently, and tangibly led by the Holy Spirit. Just as I was thinking about this I heard that still small voice nudge me to turn left into a medical center parking lot rather than continue on to finish my errands. Initially I resisted and put off the idea as something foolish and ridiculuous that I had made up in my head. So, I drove another few hundred yards and began to feel “what if that was the Holy Spirit telling me to turn there for a purpose that I don’t see or understand…I don’t want to miss out on what God potentially has planned for that moment.”
So, I took the next left turn and make a U-turn, found the parking lot of the medical center and pulled in completely unaware of what to expect. Sure enough, as I pulled in I spotted an elderly man sitting in his wheel-chair just in front of the main entrance to the building. I then knew this moment was orchestrated by God and was prompted by the Holy Spirit. I knew that I was supposed to offer this man prayer and share the gospel of Jesus but I did not know how it would happen. so, I parked and decided to approach the building. As I approached, I greeted the man and he voluntarily began telling me about his day at the doctors office, etc. I told him I work at the House of Prayer and shared the good news of Jesus with him and offered him prayer. He accepted my offer and we prayed for Jesus to heal him and bless his life the rest of his days! Nothing supernatural happened, he didn’t get up and walk, or notice a tangible difference, however I believe that the Lord was ministering to him as I shared with him the hope that Jesus came and will come again to heal all that call upon His name!
The whole experience once again reminded me of the voice of the Holy Spirit in my life. Jesus said that “He (the Holy Spirit) dwells with you and will be in you.” (John 14:15-17). Jesus also said that “He (speaking of Holy Spirit) will teach you all things, and bring to your rememberance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26). Jesus also says that the Holy Spirit will “testify of Jesus, guide you into all truth, speak to us, tell us of things to come, convict the world of sin, and glorify the Father” (see John Chs. 14-16). the experience once again revealed to me that the Holy Spirit is active in our lives and He desires to speak to us concering what is on the heart of the Father.

DC United’s 2007 soccer season ends…
November 4, 2007

In between date nights with Amanda, prayer meetings at IHOP-KC, worship team practices, house chores, going to chic-fil-a, and taking photographs…I do get a little free time. this summer/fall I followed DC United (professional soccer team Washington, DC) with somewhat of a passion. They ended their regular season with the best record in the league, the #1 goal scorer in the league, and the best all-around goal-keeper in the league. They were arguably the best team in the league on all levels, however their season abruptly came to an end this past week after falling to Chicago Fire team. There were definitley some very disputable and controversial hand-ball calls in both of their 2 games against the Fire. Unfortunatley, the final score is what matters and DC didn’t measure up to their repuation this year…oh well, there’s always next season!
…I can’t believe i just spent that much time writing that out. :)
