IHOP-KC prayer room updates…
July 24, 2007

well, this week we have relocated the 24/7 prayer room at IHOP over to our Bible School campus while the 24/7 prayer room facility undergoes some much needed maintenance and updates. Part of the prayer room updates come as a result of our new partnership with GodTV (#365 on DirecTV or www.God.tv). As we take prayer and worship to the nations via TV and internet web-streaming technology we need a few basic upgrades such as lighting and sound. Im also happy that they are filling in the pot holes in the parking lot! sometimes its just the little things :)
Its so exciting to know that we are now literally leading the world (over 200 nations) in seeking the Lord in prayer and worship. its truly stunning to me when I think about the reality of when I pray my prayer on the microphone in a small room in the middle of Kansas City that tens of thousands are entering in their agreement via TV and web-streaming and we are reaching to touch the uncreated and unseen Father in Heaven!
MD and KC mix via the BBQ sauce…
July 22, 2007

so in the midst of intense ministry work day-after-day we still have a little bit of fun around the house! and as you’ve noticed, we’ve been having our bit of fun with food! well, on this occassion (as there comes this occasion in most every man’s life) I decided to do a little creating myself in the form of BBQ sauce! very manly, right??? anyway, here is my nearly-perfect and HOMEMADE blend of east-coast style BBQ meeting the famous mid-west Kansas City style BBQ! it’s gentle and sweet on the frontend and tangy and biting on the back. the not-so-secret ingredient is the Old Bay Seasoning straight out of crab country! notice the crockpot in the back…a whole chicken awaits its fate of an 8 hour appointment with my recipe below:
1/2 cup Ketchup
1 Tbsp Yellow Mustard
1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
3 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (smoke flavored is best!)
1 tsp Maple Syrup
1 tsp Old Bay
0.5 tsp Mustard Powder
0.5 tsp Chili Powder
0.5 tsp Liquid Smoke
(makes about 1 cup of sauce)
Add brown sugar, honey, or more maple syrup for more “sweets”
Add various salts/peppers or worcestershire sauce for a bit more “bite”

ever sold a house before…
July 18, 2007

so our posting has definitley slowed down a bit these past couple weeks. mostly because we’ve decided to sell our house in Maryland and much of my “internet” time has been taken over by dealing with the logistics of research and getting things set up to sell the place. it’s a bit harder to do when the house you’re trying to sell is 1100 miles away! anyway, the Baker’s are back in MD for a few weeks and they’re doing some hands on stuff at our place and several of their own places as well.
if you know of anyone who wants to buy a huge house (5BR/3BA, 2400+ sq.ft.) in Bowie, MD (10 min east of Washington, DC) let us know!
here’s some pics of the place shortly after we purchased and renovated it in 2005

citizens of another Kingdom (4th of July)…
July 4, 2007

the 4th of July used to be my favorite holiday for obvious reasons…school just let out, big parties everywhere, re-connecting with friends that I hadn’t seen since school was in, big firework displays, and lots of good food. i guess times have changed and I’ve lost my lustre about the 4th of July. as we celebrate our country’s independence and freedoms with BBQs, fireworks, and gatherings at the local parks Im reminded that my national citizenship is secondary to my heavenly citizenship. don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate my national citizenship within the U.S.A. However, as we set out to celebrate our nation’s independence I’m reminded of the deeper and eternal issue of heavenly citizenship. Nations will be shaken, they will rise and fall and rise again but the Kindgom of God will remain forever (Hebrews 12). I like to think about what the celebrations will be like when the Kingdom of God is established once-and-for-good…forever! what kind of display will that look like! chapter 21 of Revelation tells us that the glory of God and the Lamb will be the light for the new heavens and new earth. that will be some “fireworks” display! I think the Apostle Paul was hitting on some of this reality related to his citizenship. this is what he pointed out to the Church of Philippi in his letter to the Philippians…
“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”
