a life of prayer…at CompUSA????
March 29, 2007
Amanda and I went to CompUSA today to price out their selection of MacBook Pros and while we were looking Amanda felt an impression to pray for a particular worker at the store. He mysterioulsy disappeared for a little while in the back so we meandered and almost left the store twice without finding him and offering him prayer. about 15 mins later, we waited in the check out line and felt the urge to look for him one last time. We found him in the back corner!
our conversation went like this…
me: “can I ask you a question?”
guy: “yes, but those guys (younger co-workers) are probably smarter”
me: “thats ok, I wanted to talk to you…I’m a Christian, believe in Jesus, and we’re from the Intl. House of Prayer right down the road, we were looking at these computers a little while ago and saw you and felt like God wanted us to pray for you (two younger co-worker guys intensely looking on and listening). so is there anything you want prayer for?”
guy: “No, I’m good, thanks”
me: “are you sure? nothing we can pray for? you don’t need any healing, family is doing ok? anything?”
guy: “nope, I’m good”
me: “OK, no problem, well bless you”
{I turned to the two co-worker younger guys…}
me: “anything you guys want prayer for?”
them: “yea, we need new jobs b/c our store is closing”
me: awesome, lets pray…
So we prayed for them, just like a 15 second prayer.
I noticed 2 things:
{1} It was so easy!
{2} but the powerful thing was that we felt the pleasure of the Lord as we obeyed Him and laid down our fears. It was so sweet to actually share God’s heart with them in just a brief couple minutes. Who knows what seeds may have been sown as a result of our weak “yes” to God! Amen!
scary event of the day…
March 28, 2007

1. took a shower
2. started to blow-dry my hair like normal
3. crazy patterns of blue, orange, and yellow sparks shoot out of the blow-dryer at an alarming velocity directly towards my head.
4. i release a crazy scream!
5. my housemates think i fell down the stairs or something
6. the blow-dryer is dead!

God is still good in the midst of tragedy…
March 27, 2007
my family experienced 3 sudden, un-natural, and tragic deaths this past summer/fall. Im not with them in MD but it seems they have been coping and dealing with the tragedies as best they can. I’ve had a couple email conversations with them recently on the topic and its helped me remember again how good God is even in the midst of things that seem so bad.
I love how Jesus responded in Luke 13 when some asked him if those who had died in a natural disaster and those who had died as a result of persecution were worse sinners than those that still alive. Jesus, basically responded by saying – the better question is “why are you still alive? …b/c we all deserve death”
on the surface, it could seem that Jesus was being harsh, but what He was really stating is that it is a gift that you are still living and breathing right now! bad things happen everyday and people still die tragically and naturally, but what this has stirred in me is a thankfulness that I and many others that I love are still alive and well by the grace of God – who sustains all life.
in case you have a million bucks…
March 26, 2007
If you saw our MacBook Pro post, you know that Amanda and I are praying and hoping that the Lord will break in and provide us a high-powered laptop that I can use for photography work and we can both use in the prayer room.
Well, if you’re looking for a laptop (like me!) and your budget happens to be 7 figures, you can now buy yourself the world’s first million dollar laptop.
I mean why not?
OR, just a random thought…
if you have a million bucks to spend
and you have a heart for missions
in the earth, you could fully support:
100 missionaries at $10,000/year for 1 year
50 missionaries at $10,000/year for 2 years
25 missionaries at $10,000/year for 4 years
10 missionaires at $10,000/year for 10 years

March 21, 2007
{01} called your mom?
{02} had an ice cream float?
{03} stayed up until 4am?
{04} started and finished an entire book?
{05} went for a jog?
{06} did your own laundry?
{07} ordered a water instead of soda (pop)?
{08} wrote a handwritten letter?
{09} bought somebody lunch?
{10} shouted out loud and danced around?
I’m long overdue on most of these!
st patrick’s day – lessons learned…
March 20, 2007
so, the previous post tantalized your visual buds with photos from the event. the experience was both exciting, challenging, and uncomfortable…
…but what I learned is this:
the whole experience opened up my eyes to see how little I verbally share the love of God with complete strangers and/or acquaintances on a day-to-day basis. As I sifted through the crowds at the parade, I shrank back in discouragement and fear and I justified myself by taking more photos of people sharing the love of God than actually opening my own mouth and sharing the love of God myself. the discouragement turned into despair and feelings failure for a split moment…and then God showed me that I need to come to grips w/ my own dullness in this particular area. the good news is that I feel a new vigor and ferverency to share the love of God again! Thank you Jesus.
Can anyone relate?
st patrick’s day in photos…
March 19, 2007

CHECK OUT THE PHOTO GALLERY!
little did you know that Kansas City hosts the nation’s 2nd (or 3rd) largest St. Patrick’s Day parade. The largest are NY, Chicago, and Kansas City! (see, there are some highlights to living in KC). News crews estimated 200,000+ people came out this year to witness the 2+ hour parade and surrounding festivities in downtown KC.
IHOP led a massive evangelism outreach both before and during the parade! about 400 IHOPers and others filled the streets sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and offering prayer to those in attendance. It was an amazing time of stepping out and sharing the love of God w/ the people of Kansas City. To top if off, the IHOP parade float included live worship music, a dramatized St. Patrick preaching the Gospel of Jesus to the crowds, and 400+ IHOPers trailing the float celebrating the love of Jesus! Amazing witnessing!
survey: Mac Book Pro…
March 17, 2007

Amanda and I are praying that God would either provide us a a laptop or provide us money to purchase a laptop to replace our 5+ yr-old Dell Desktop PC. We primarily want a laptop so I can use for my photo work and we can use for study in the prayer room. so, I’m thinking about a Mac Book Pro. they’re powerful and so nice and silvery in color!
the Q:
is the 2.33GHz worth the extra $500 over the 2.16GHz?
the context:
I will mainly use for heavy photo processing and editing…often 500-1000 images at a time for wedding jobs. I mainly use Adobe Lightroom and some photoshop.
the A:
YOU TELL ME! 2.16 GHz or 2.33 GHz?

wordcast addiction…are you a victim?
March 15, 2007
So recently, I have noticed that there is apparently a secret world of folks that consider themselves “bloggers.” This seems like a fairly harmless group of people. They share their lives, quirky insights, revelations, and sometimes just good information. The world of blogging is interesting because it draws and builds community with those that would otherwise not communicate with each other. I love that! I myself enjoy an occasional walk through someone elses blog. However, there is a small group of bloggers that take the occasional walk or posting a bit too far. This profile is what I would consider the blog addict. As I watch my husband enter into the world of blogging, I have seen some interesting habits being to develop.

does anyone have any *lip stuff* ?
March 14, 2007
I know there’s certain people out there that are hardlined about *lip stuff* - my wife is a chapstick fanatic and I love her for it b/c I’m always *that guy* asking for *lip stuff* but, sometimes the normal stick just doesn’t do the job and my wife’s lip cracked last week! so…
{1} what is the best brand (and by best, i mean most effective) chapstick?
{2} what is the best tasting (not that you should be eating it) chapstick?
{3} what is the best packaged (can, stick, tin, etc) chapstick brand?
